Joint Seat Allotment Authority through its official website @josaa.nic.in will conduct 7 rounds of Counseling approximately. For each round, JoSAA will release the Opening and the Closing Ranks acceptable by the respective colleges for each Academic course available in the Institute. The candidates can appear in these Counseling procedures based on their Ranks and the Ranks eligible for Seat Allotment in the respective Counseling session. However, if a candidate is not satisfied with the seat allotted to him/her they will have the following options to carry out.

  • FloatingThis option is for those candidates who wish to accept the offered seat but also looking for an upgrade if admissions are open in a better/higher preferred institute or course.
  • Freezing: If a candidate exercises this option, it will indicate that the candidate has accepted the allotted seats and do not wish to participate in further rounds.
  • Sliding: If this option used, it will mean that candidates have accepted the allotted seat, however, if admissions are open in a better course in the same institute then he/she will go for an upgrade.

Thus, all the candidates will have to report to their allotted institutes to confirm their admission by paying remaining academic fees.

JoSAA Spot Counseling

The candidates who were earlier unable to register themselves for the JoSAA 2019, will have an opportunity to go through the JoSAA 2019 Spot Counselling. This facility is provided under certain conditions as if the seats remain vacant after the completion of all rounds of COunseling for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. The candidates can check the list of availability of the seats for the JoSAA Spot Counseling on the official website @josaa.nic.in of the Authority before the Counseling is actually conducted

The candidates visit the Reporting Center Directly and the Spot Counseling is conducted for them hence the name.

JoSAA Special Counseling

Conducted by Central Seat Allotment Board (CSAB), JoSAA Special COunselling is conducted for the seats left out by the candidates who withdrew their Admissions or Seat confirmation after all the counseling procedure. These seats are randomly left by the institutes and will be filled in by CSAB itself.
